For years, my exercise regimen consisted of stretching and working out with weights at my local gym. Then one day in 2006, I ventured into the group fitness room at my health club and discovered yoga. I fell in love. At the suggestion of the club’s yoga instructor, I began my yoga teacher training, and I’ve been teaching and practicing regularly ever since.

My first experience with yoga was a Rodney Yee VHS in my living room around the age of fourteen. My mother had been injured in a car accident and yoga was suggested to aid her recovery. I was hooked immediately. The inner sense of calm it gave me was incomparable to anything else I had experienced. Since then, my understanding has deepened and I've learned to connect to my body in a whole new way. Yoga has taught me the power of breathing, the method of using meditation in my movement, and how to harness love and positivity in my thoughts.

Amy reluctantly attended her first yoga class in 2000. While exercise had always been an important part of her life, with three young children she did not have the time to learn another discipline. However, something in the totality of the experience, the sweaty powerful Asanas, the deep Ujjayi breathing, and the exciting energy in the room, caused Amy to go back for another class. The more yoga she did, the more Amy transformed both on and off the mat. She credits our own local yogis for inspiring her to deepen her practice and pursue teaching.

Over 30 years ago I began to practice yoga. It opened my body and mind to the power that resided in me to shape my life, and led me to explore other aspects of health and fitness. Through the years, I’ve accumulated over 10,000-hours of hands-on experience and an extensive background in Yoga Asana, Yoga Therapy, Meditation, Ayurveda, Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Pilates, and Exercise Science.

I came to the mat like so many people do. I was hurting emotionally and looking for an outlet to help me regain control over what felt like an impossible situation. I found myself in my yoga practice. I healed and opened my heart to forgiveness, compassion and an unyielding connection to the Divine. The healing that I encountered was mystical and swift and I knew immediately that yoga would be my life's work.
