Chinook's unconventional approach to fitness embraces a simple motto - 'if something works, I incorporate it and if something doesn't work, I eliminate it'. A work-out pioneer, he was one of the first to fuse multiple training methods into a holistic system over time evolving into his Yogua Dao system of health and healing. Yogua Dao translates to 'the way of constant evolution'. Forever flowing and growing, through the practices and principles of global health and wellness methods - Yogua Dao is the way of the seed, root and fruit. This method purposely emphasizes and utilizes circles and spiraling energies and is primarily focused on transitions between the asanas as well as the asanas themselves. Tai Chi, Bua Gua, Qi Gong, Aikido, capoeira, vinyasa yoga and meditation are the foremost, dominant guiding principles and techniques. It is theorized that many diseases originate in the core area or lower chakras because of modern day, sedentary lifestyles. Prana and chi get stuck from a lack of natural movement. Yogua Dao targets these chakras in a way to properly work through both tamasic and rajasic energy-related blockages.
Chinook has honed his teaching over the last 30+ years, sharing his understanding of movement and health and the benefits of yoga and tai chi at various health and fitness, martial arts, and yoga facilities. He successfully completed Baron Baptise's Level 1 teacher training (112 hours) and Sivananda's yoga and Sports Intensive Course (90 hours). His style is unique and influenced by his continuing study with premier yogis such as Dharma Mittra, Rodney Yee, Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea, Baron Baptiste, Eric Schiffman, Tias Little, David Sunshine, and Ally David, among others. He continues to research and participate in classes and workshops in pilates, Lotte Berk method, Alexander Technique, Bua Gua, Qi Gong, Tai Bo, kickboxing, aromatherapy, biomechanics, sound and color therapy, and more, keeping his teaching, dynamic and cutting edge.
