philosophy

As I sit to write this, I reflect on previous years and my life both with the practice of Yoga and without the practice of Yoga. I started practicing Astanga Yoga over 20 years ago when I was a college student. Upon graduation, my life changed and I moved on to a career in business, marketing and sales; launching the Guess Eyewear Collection, running a multi million dollar shop concept business for Guess Apparel, launching the Donna Karan Intimates lines and pioneering, as a regional sales manager, Pepe Jeans when they were part of Tommy Hilfiger. My fitness life consisted of scattered yoga classes, aerobics, weights and running. My mid-thirties found me married, raising three stepchildren plus one son of my own and craving a more meaningful and peaceful personal life. The practice of Yoga found me again. I began with Power Yoga at my local fitness center but as my practice took over, I began taking classes whenever I traveled and could find a teacher.

Fortunately, during the last few years I’ve traveled nationally and internationally and participated in some very wonderful, inspiring and motivating Yoga workshops — workshops presented by true master Yoga teachers in Astanga, Power, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Hatha and Bikram. Once you experience an intensive afternoon, evening, weekend or week-long workshop presented by a true master instructor, you take huge strides in an incredibly forward direction in your own practice of Yoga. You can find yourself inspired to do more, take it another level, and you acquire a greater understanding of the art and philosophy of Yoga. You possess a desire to share the benefits and blessings with your friends and family. You find yourself challenged mentally and physically, and you face head on those things that have often held you back.

After traveling over the summer of 2002 and experiencing yoga in many different places, I returned to Dallas and realized that what we needed here was an on-going series of workshops that were presented by master Yoga instructors. We needed to have these intensive workshops available on a consistent basis year after year to inspire and touch the hearts and souls of the Dallas Yoga community.

These programs needed to be available to anyone at any level, regardless of where they practice yoga regularly. I wanted to be able to offer Yoga students and Yoga teachers an opportunity to get together, to share like minds and interests in an intensive workshop setting that was presented by master Yoga instructors. Living Yoga Dallas was founded to accomplish this mission.

The mission of Living Yoga Dallas is to enhance and expand the practice of Yoga for the community of Dallas, Texas by providing an on-going schedule of programs offered by gifted and talented Yoga teachers with a high level of expertise in Yoga teaching and training.

We will provide expert yoga teachers in all fields of Yoga who are gifted and experienced in presenting workshop intensives; those teachers that have studied with the ancient grandfathers and grandmothers of Yoga; those teachers that have traveled extensively learning and teaching Yoga; and those that have written wonderful books and produced wonderful videos. We will continue to strive for, reach, promote and bring those master teachers that are equally driven to help others stay inspired, educated and motivated in the practice of Yoga to Dallas.

Peace to you and
Namaste,

Kendall A. Inman
