Vinyasa and the Prana of Asana
In this Vinyasa, Asana, and Prana master class, we explore Asana as a tool for energetic cultivation. The backdrop of highly effective sequencing is knowledge of the five Prana Vayus. These teachings are not separate from Asana; instead, they are the heart of Asana’s transformational effect.
The intention of this class is to highlight the richness of practice; yoga’s view of the body as an instrument to awaken self-knowledge; and methods for awakening the fullest potential of Asana.
This class will be geared towards the intermediate to advanced practitioner and requires the participant to have a minimum of six months regular yoga practice.

ABOUT ROD STRYKER:
Rod is widely considered to be one of the preeminent Yoga and meditation teachers in the United States. He leads Teacher Training and Advanced Teacher Training Programs, intensives, retreats and workshops throughout the country for students of all levels. He is on the advisory board of Yoga International, as well as Healing Spa and Retreats magazines, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. He has been a consultant to corporations on the benefits of Yoga, taught Yoga and meditation alongside Deepak Chopra, and most recently developed a video series for Living Arts/Gaiam titled Yoga for Longevity. Rod has also produced a highly acclaimed guided meditation CD, 3 Meditations to Live By.
Rod has owned two highly successful Yoga studios in Los Angeles. His private clients have included a long list of celebrities and high powered professionals. He is a regular presenter at leading Yoga conferences and regular contributor to both Yoga Journal and Yoga International Magazines.
Rod's study of Yoga began at the age 19. Three years later he began an intensive apprenticeship with internationally renowned Yoga master Yogiraj Mani Finger. Rod became a dedicated part of this spiritual lineage that included some of India's leading Yoga Masters of the past century: Paramhamsa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, and Ramana Maharishi. Rod became his teacher's only American disciple to be given the title of Yogiraj, master of Yoga.
In the mid-nineties, Rod teamed with famed fitness star Kathy Smith to co-produce a series of Yoga videos. Written, produced, and choreographed by Rod, NEW YOGA, NEW YOGA BASICS, and NEW YOGA CHALLENGE all reached the top of the Billboard sales charts. All three tapes have been honored with a variety of "best of" awards.
Known for his unique ability to share his vast knowledge and experience in consistently practical and inspirational terms, Rod is truly an exceptional and unique guide into the heart and science of Yoga. Rod calls his approach Pure Yoga. Its mission, in Rod's words, "is to inspire and empower individuals to achieve their full (physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual) potential so they may enjoy a richer, more rewarding life.
