ITINERARY (subject to change):
FRIDAY MASTER CLASS
From Sweat to Samadhi: The miracle of the 8 limbed yoga methodology!
Friday afternoon, October 17, 2008, 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Great teaching comes out of great practice. And as those of us know who have been doing yoga regularly for a while, practice works! We start with asana and before long, we notice we are changing, and moving into deeper and deeper realms of consciousness. Yoga transforms us in a way we cannot know when we begin and the main reason most yoga students want to teach, is so they can pass along the benefits of what yoga has done for them. You can’t talk about it, you can’t really explain it – you can only start with bringing the attention to the breath – inhale, exhale. The true experience of yoga is the experience of Samadhi, or the True Self and it comes out of the simple but constant effort to pay attention. This is the secret yoga code: get your attention in present time and the future will take care of itself. This is the critical work for us today and the secret of excellence in teaching and personal transformation. We must transform ourselves; the planet, our communities, our species, all species, need our best effort!
This master class is geared towards teachers, teachers in training, and advanced practitioners. It will consist mainly of asana, dynamic vinyasa flow, pranayama, and some lecture and Q&A.

Detox for Mind and Body: The combined cleansing effects of sweat, breath, and attention
We are all surrounded by toxins and pollutants; our environment is making people sick. More people are affected by allergies and respiratory problems then ever before. Until we can get our planet cleaned up, keeping the vital organs in good physical shape and the immune system strong is essential for an active, healthy life. It means utilizing all possibilities for cleansing and detoxification. A strong, rajasic (active) vinyasa flow practice is a powerful ally – to those of us who can manage it – in keeping the system free of toxins and running smoothly. Healthy diet and organic foods are critical but so is a method of strengthening the system and cleansing the tightness, toxins, and tension that we endure in our environment day after day.
This session is mostly asana, sun salutations, dynamic vinyasa flow, pranayama, some lecture, and Q&A.
Saturday afternoon, 2:00pm - 4:30pm
Decoding the Yoga Philosophy – Discussion, Lecture, and Q&A
Join Beryl in a lively and enthusiastic exploration of the ancient wisdom of the Yoga Sutra and learn of the amazing similarities emerging in the field of quantum physics. Far from boring, this is the way to study Sutra!! -- with an inquisitive group of fellow practitioners, seeking the answer to “Who am I?”, group reading and passionate awakening, unlike any experience you’ve had with Sutra Study. See how the confluence of Science and Spirit is the new paradigm. Bring your favorite copy of the Yoga Sutra and be prepared to read and participate in discussion.
Sunday morning, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Are you Awake? Putting Your Practice to Work in the World
What does it mean to be awake? It means to be aware, conscious, observing. It means to be free from conditioned thought – it means to know the Witness within your self. How do you know if you are awake? The revelation comes when you realize that “who you are” is not your thoughts, your stuff, your profession, your bank account, or your political affiliation. It is the moment you get unstuck from your incessant mind chatter, if only for a moment, to possibly have an experience of yoga, of Boundlessness. Yoga – in its inner limbs and deeper stages – has very little to do with gymnastic abilities. Yoga is finding the answer to the question Who Am I? This experience takes you beyond personal fixation to a greater concern for the well being of All. It is then that you can take your practice off the mat and into the world for the greater good! And it all starts with asana and pranayama – developing a regular, focused practice. Get your attention in present time and the future will take care of itself!
This session is mostly dynamic asana vinyasa flow, pranayama, some lecture and Q&A.
