In this immersion come prepared to experience a powerful interweave of meditation and movement. Each practice will serve to center awareness inside while generating blood flow through all the tissues of the body. Through mindfulness practice we cultivate a more open, kind and accepting interior. Through both dynamic and restorative postures we bring vitality to the body and mind.

Individual sessions may be purchased for $75 after January 15th

Schedule:

Centering In / Friday, February 14, 5-8pm

The region just below the navel is the center of gravity in the body. Called the hara in Japan, the dantian in China and related to the second chakra in yoga, it is the source of the breath and the origin of the deep life force. In this class we mindfully initiate every movement and every pose from the lower belly. Through active and passive positions, we stretch, expand and strengthen the tissues of the deep core.

Expanding Outward / Saturday, February 15, 9-12pm

In yoga we create space in the body by expanding prana. Prana is the deep life force. It is both breath and blood and animates all the cells and tissues of the body. However due to compression and stagnation, the prana becomes restricted. In this class we lift and widen and expand our interior in order to open the heart and elevate the spirit.

Folding Inward / Saturday, February 15, 2-5pm

Forward bends serve to draw the mind inward toward the spirit and to restore the organ of the brain. This class emphasizes release of the back body including the spine, the kidneys and the neck. Forward bends help to reduce fatigue and prepare the mind for meditation.

Riding the Changing Edge / Sunday, February 16, 9-12pm

In practice we aim to find the edge within each pose. The edge is the threshold to change, growth and awakening. While typically students aim to push their edges further, this practice is about abiding at the edge, without pushing against it or pulling back from it. No matter how small, each edge represents a possibility for growth and transformation. In this class discover that whether on or off the mat, you are always on the changing edge.
