Sumits Yoga was created by Sumit Banerjee based on his own years of experience practicing and teaching various yoga styles including Bikram and Vinyasa. Classes at Sumits Yoga flow to music through a sequence of both balancing and energizing asanas (poses) in a heated practice environment. The healing aspect of heat allows the student to move through the sequence by waking and energizing the body while stretching and compressing the joints, muscles, ligaments and other supporting structures of the body. Your body naturally protects itself from physical exertion by generating heat from the inside of the muscles outwards. The heat is started at the beginning of class providing that protection from the very first poses. This also allows for more efficient burning of fat and it is not uncommon for students to literally "melt" off inches in a relatively short time. But the greatest benefit of hot yoga is the calmness it brings to the mind and spirit. Sumits sequence is 80 minutes long.
