Shelagh McElroy began her practice 13 years ago as a New Years resolution to help alleviate the stress of her career as a Behavior Intervention Specialist. She learned how essential yoga was to creating and maintaining a peaceful existence and gave up her day job 7 years ago to teach yoga full time. With a background in dance and a degree in psychology, she brings fun, acceptance, and a down-to-earth, humorous approach to her classes. Focusing primarily on students new to yoga, she has an ability to determine what her students need and to tailor an approach that both supports and challenges them. Her penchant for very bad yoga jokes has endeared her to her students. A long time student of Fred Dowd, she has also greatly benefited from the teachings of Ramanand Patel, Kofi Busia, Shiva Rea, and Kachina Abeita.
