THE CONCERT:
WAH! combines reggae, traditional Indian music, and pop to deliver her message to audiences. The concert includes songs in English as well as simple Sanskrit chants from her other albums.
WAH! has a spent a lifetime immersed in music and spiritual practice, studying in the US, India and Africa. After graduating from Oberlin College/ Conservatory, WAH! spent fifteen years living in an ashram, immersing herself in yoga and meditation. WAH! emerged in the late 1990s, opening and performing with artists such as Krishna Das and Courtney Love (Hole). Her collaboration with producer Herb Graham, Jr. on the CD Opium brought her music to the mainstream market. Using the musical talents of Macy Gray’s and Alanis Morissette’s bandmembers, WAH! released a collection of mid-tempo trip-hop songs to express her unique perspective on life.
Western musical styles and Eastern spirituality come together seamlessly in this concert. A must for devotional music fans.
