Event Description:

Join Yogarupa Rod Stryker, one of the West’s true master teachers, as he leads a two-day workshop, featuring the teachings and practices that unlock Sri––the all-pervasive wave of beauty and bliss that is the source of life. Through practices and theory you’ll experience, first hand, how asana is part of a larger, more comprehensive tradition––Tantra, which expands the reach of yoga in ever more profound ways. Four classes, each building to the next, lead toward you embodying more and more of the wisdom and power of Tantra. You’ll use asana and breath to open the portals of your energy body, engage your mind to enter into the profound practices that awaken your Divine potential, work with Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) and explore the teachings of Sri Vidya––Tantra’s most sublime approach.

Classes will include theory, dynamic asana sequences, accessible pranayama and tantric meditation as well as Yoga Nidra practices. All levels welcome.

PARAYOGA WEEKEND IMMERSION: TANTRA YOGA & THE PATH OF BEAUTY AND BLISS

Sushumna Vinyasa: Awakening the Sacred Channel
Friday, September 11, 2015 morning class 9:00am -12:00pm
According to Tantra, the spine––and more specifically, the energy channel inside it, called Sushumna––is the abode of our soul’s untapped potential and a direct link to spirit. In this practice we move through practice to build stillness and clarity, while awakening the central channel and unlock the energy that resides within it.

Asana, Bandha Vinyasa
Friday, September 11, 2015, afternoon class 2:00pm - 5:00pm
Bandha is the doorway into the energetics of practice. Perfection of bandha increases our sensitivity and relationship to prana (life force). It also builds creative power, awakens self-knowledge and accelerates the process of transformation. Learn the keys to bandha theory and practice in asana and beyond. Our emphasis is on taking your practice, wherever it currently is, to the next level. Class includes asana, pranayama and some lecture.

Shakti Vinyasa: The Power of Mudra
Saturday, September 12, 2015, morning class, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Description: Mudra is the culmination of the physical practice of Tantric hatha yoga. The most energetically profound of all hatha practices, mudra incorporates asana, breath, and bandha, thereby bridging yoga’s physical and spiritual practices. Experience this internally challenging, powerful, and sacred modality in the flow of a progressive sequence. Learn how, why, and what of this most profound of tantric hatha practices. Previous pranayama experience strongly recommended.

Vinyasa: Worship at the Lotus of the Heart
Saturday, September 12, 2015, afternoon class, 2:00pm - 5:00pm
According to Tantra, the ultimate aim of practice is to embody Sri. The day will feature yoga practice as well as yoga nidra.  We will dive into the heart of Tantra’s sublime vision, leading to experience the body as the altar of life and the source the all-encompassing beauty and joy that is the soul of the universe.MASTER CLASS Tantra Yoga Vinyasa: Asana, Bandha, Mudra

TANTRA VINYASA Master Class––Moon, Sun, and Fire––Mastering Mind, Energy and Soul

Moon, sun, fire are the three principal approaches to practice. Rod will explain the progression and give you a direct experience of each.

He is renowned for his depth of knowledge, practical wisdom, and unique ability to transmit the deepest aspect of the teachings and practices to modern audiences and students from all walks of life. Rod has taught for more than thirty years, training teachers leading corporate seminars, yoga retreats, and workshops throughout the world.
Acclaimed as a leading voice for the ancient traditions, accomplished Yogi, teacher, lecturer, and writer, Rod’s down-to-earth approach is informed as much by his mastery of the sublime teachings, as it is by his love of life and devotion to his wife and four children.

Rod is the author of The Four Desires: Creating a Life of Purpose, Happiness, Prosperity and Freedom. He is on the advisory boards of the Kripalu Institute for Extraordinary Living, the Give Back Yoga Foundation and Yoga International magazine. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Himalayan Institute.

"There is a pristine place in each of us that is of the same stuff that lights the most distant star. Recognize it and discover a power and insight that will guide you to flourish in every area of your life." –– Rod Stryker
Rod's study of Yoga began at the age 19. Three years later he began an intensive apprenticeship with internationally renowned Yoga master Kavi Yogiraj Mani Finger. Rod became a dedicated part of this spiritual lineage that included some of India's leading Yoga Masters of the past century including: Paramhamsa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, Kaviyogi Maharshi Shuddhananda Bharati, and Sri Ramana Maharishi. In addition to his discipleship with Mani, Rod studied closely under Mani's son, Yogiraj Alan Finger. Eventually Rod would become his teachers' only American disciple to be given the title Yogiraj, master of Yoga.

In 1999, Rod met Pandit Rajmani Tigunait (PhD), spiritual head of the Himalayan Institute. Their close relationship has continued to grow, and in the years since Rod has taught alongside Panditji at various seminars and retreats.
Their relationship helped to consolidate and served as the culmination of Rod's previous two decades of intensive study and practice. Rod puts it this way, "I spent twenty years preparing for what and where Panditji and the tradition of Sri Vidya would guide me. It has opened me to worlds and joy I never could have imagined before our meeting. I am eternally grateful to all it has given me and empowered me to give to others".

Rod currently lives in Colorado with his wife Gina, and their four children Jaden, Theo, Asha, and Atreya.
