Celebrating 15 years!

I have always felt that if a yoga teacher learns about the symptoms of MS and how to teach students with this condition, then the teacher has learned how to teach students with other conditions as well.  Why?

Something to think about - people who have MS can experience symptoms ranging from muscle weakness that affects gait, balance and mobility to hearing loss, problems with speech and swallowing.  The symptoms of MS are so wide ranging and variable, that regardless of the cause, we will have other students with similar challenging symptoms.

The information and skills you get from TAYMS YTT can serve many other student populations who don't have MS but do have health challenges. In other words, when you learn how to adapt yoga for students who have MS you learn how to work with students with just about any health challenge.

Adaptive yoga is what yoga is all about, right? After all, yoga is an inside job. It's inherently individual. Students who have MS may be disabled but not necessarily. However, they do live with an uncertain future (like everyone else) only they are living with various symptoms that remind them of that uncertainty every day.

TAYMS offers adaptive yoga asana as well as tools for understanding and adapting to an ever changing internal landscape.  Yoga, not just asana, is the perfect venue for living well with what ails you.

Please check us out. We're celebrating 15 years of TAYMS at MINDSET Fitness & Yoga in Fort Worth, Texas. This is a perfect venue for us because the members of MINDSET are already practicing TAYMS yoga. They are our best teachers.  Please join us and please share if you know teachers who may be interested.

Choose the 18-hour introduction or stay for the week and develop your understanding and skills alongside individuals living with MS and their MINDSET training professionals. What's the difference between TAYMS18 and TAYMS50?

The week long TAYMS50 offers:

  • more hands-on experiences assisting MINDSET group classes;
  • team teaching a MINDSET group class;
  • conducting semi-private and private sessions with mentoring from Karen and Travis;
  • presentations from wellness experts and researchers working with the MINDSET community;
  • in-depth anatomy and physiology with regard to MS;
  • more yoga tools to address particular symptoms of MS as well as whole person wellness through the 5 koshas.
  • TAYMS50 also includes the TAYMS Facilitator Toolbox, prepared content for a 6-8 week program to get you started in your community.

CEUs:

  • Total program hours:  18 hours for the weekend introduction and 18 CEUs; 50 hours / CEUs for in-depth study, practicum, and TAYMS certification.
  • Please let Karen know if you need Yoga Alliance CEUs for this program.
